INTERACTIONAL PROCESSES IN CONTEXT: COUPLES,  FAMILIES, GROUPS AND COMUNITIES

The research projects explore themes and raise questions around several relevant themes: contemporary conjugalities and the multiple forms of being a family in today´s society; the presence of marital and domestic violence; of sexual abuse of children and adolescents; the Family dynamics present in drug addiction contexts.

PSYCHOANALISES, SUBJECTIVITY AND CULTURE

This research perspective proposes a psychoanalitical refletion about the constitution of the subject as processual and imbricated, in an indissociated level, to culture. Psychoanalisis is viewed and problematized as a clinical practice  and as a process of construction of subjectivity, given the singularity of each subject, as well as  a theory and critique of culture. The processes of subjectivation in the culture are investigated through a social and historical perspective. It explores questions regarding  cultural productions and their interactions with the theory and the psychoanalitic clinic. It also includes the domains of  history and of the critique of culture, of art and literature.

The research projects are geared towards the construction of an  integrative knowledge of the realities inherent to the mental health area. The objective is to contemplate the intrapsyquic and the  relacional domains,  the grave acute psyquic sufferings such as psycoses, autisms, personality transtornos, that are present throughout the life cicle, from being a baby to old age.

MENTAL HEALTH AND CULTURE

It involves studies of social and cultural phenomena in their relation with  psyquic sufferings and mental health, at the individual, interactional and social levels. The main themes of  study are: assesment of the risks to acquire a  mental disorder and the development and promotion of competences; crises intervention and suicide prevention; gender and subjectivity processes; aging; episthemological and historical questions related to psychotherapy, hipnosis, body, religion and spirituality.  Qualitative and quantitative methodologies are utilized in a clinical perspective.

The common objectives of all the Laboratories are:

1. To establish the conditios for the development of the research and extension projects of professors, undergraduate and graduate students  and associated researchers;

2. To provide support for the activities of the stritu senso graduate courses;

3. To create the conditions for the developmet of the research of both master and doctoral students;

4. To divise actions to contribute towards the integration of both the graduate and the undergraduate programs by offering undergraduate students the opportunity to work with their graduate colleagues in their research projects;

5. To give support to activities geared towards profissional training at the level of their expertise, therefore contributing to the advancement of both research and clinical expertise among professionals of the field of psychology and related areas;

6. To give support to extension activities and projects in the area of clinical expertise and production of knowledge of the Laboratory;

7. To give support to e-learning activities in the area of research and knowledge production of the Laboratory;

8. To establish exchanges with researchers, research groups and institutions of various nature at regional, national and international levels geared towards the development of joint activities that may contribute to the enrichment of the Program.
